In Loving Memory of Mr. Jessie Cloman, Sr.

Cloman

June 12. 1953 - June 24, 2025

With deep reverence and heartfelt sorrow, we remember the life of Mr. Jessie Cloman, Sr., a man whose quiet strength and unwavering commitment left an indelible mark on the Westwood Heights community.  As Vice-President of the Westwood Heights Board of Education, Jessie served with dignity, purpose, and a steadfast devotion to the families and students he represented.  His recent reelection to a six-year term was a testament to the trust and admiration he earned through years of dedicated service.

Jessie will be most remembered for his poise and quiet manner -- a presence that brought calm to every room and wisdom to every conversation.  He was always respectful, and in turn, deeply respected. Whether attending board meetings fully prepared or advocating for the needs of the district, Jessie's actions spoke volumes. He supported families not just with policy, but with compassion, and his legacy will continue to guide the hearts of those who follow in his footsteps.

He lived his life unashamed of his faith, and wore his convictions as a badge of honor--his devotion inspiring those around him to stand firm in their beliefs.  Jessie loved deeply and wholeheartedly: his family was his pride, his golf game was his joy, and his love for the Michigan State Spartans was well-known --often sparking good-natured banter and friendly ribbing with Michigan fans who dared to challenge his Spartan spirit.  Those moments of rivalry brought laughter and connection, enriching the bonds he built throughout the district.

Above all, Jessie genuinely cared for the children of Westwood Heights. He believed every student deserved "a quality education", and he worked tirelessly to ensure the district upheld its mission to foster a culture of character and achievement.  His passion for education equity was not just a professional duty--it was a personal calling.

Jessie also set the bar high--for professionalism, for community involvement, and for integrity in leadership. His legacy is not measured only by accomplishments, but by the example he gave in how to serve with honor. He leaves behind more than big shoes to fill; he leaves a standard to aspire to, a reminder that true impact is made not merely in words, but in consistent, compassionate action.

To the Cloman family: may you find comfort in knowing that Jessie's life was a beacon of integrity, love, and grace. His memory will live on in every student who finds their path, every educator who feels supported, and every neighbor who was touched by his gentle spirit. Though words cannot fill the space he leaves behind, may they remind you that he was cherished --and will be deeply missed.

Rest in peace, Mr. Cloman.
Your faith, your voice, and your legacy live on.
