{Mt. Morris Twp.}
Westwood Heights Schools Board of Education has selected Leslie Key as the district's next superintendent, effective immediately. "I am honored and humbled to be appointed, and I look forward to leading the district to even greater achievements, says Leslie Key, Westwood Heights Schools Superintendent. As part of the transition, Peter Toal will become Assistant Superintendent and contribute to operations, communications, and finance."

Leslie Key brings with him to the position considerable experience as an Assistant Superintendent and an Administrator. Leslie Key served as the Assistant Superintendent from September 2021 to April 2022. Before this role, Mr. Key worked as Director of Student and Family Affairs (2020-2021) and Principal at Hamady High school (2015-2020). Before working with Westwood Heights Schools, Leslie Key worked with Flint Community Schools as the Acting Assistant Principal (2010-2015) and was a teacher with Flint Schools from 2005 to 2015.

"My vision for the district is to continue to make Westwood Heights Schools a successful model for urban school districts. The local education environment will continue to change, and we must remain in a position to provide a quality experience for families seeking safe and supportive schools. We will continue to expand our offerings in the skilled trades and technical fields while focusing on the learning loss experienced by our students over the past two years."
After tonight’s board meeting, the Westwood Heights Schools board President Lester Fykes replied, “ I look forward to Mr. Key being better positioned to represent the district. With both of them working together, they will ensure that things are done relevant to the board.”
The Westwood Heights Schools would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
Like always, Go Hawks!
